Volunteer

The Cruising Fleet thrives, only through the contribution of its members as volunteers. There are many ways that you can make a difference.

Explore the variety of ways that you could volunteer within the Cruising Fleet. Whether its organising, skippering or just lending a pair of hands, there are many ways that you can add to the fleets experience. And these are alternatives to the many race support related options available on Dutyman. Just explore the six different options below and start making the difference for your fleet!

Lead a rally

Organising a rally is easier than you might think. Just pick a favourite harbour and chat to the harbour master - they often have the best ideas and experience for a successful rally at their location.

It's purely optional, but you might add in a dinner or a pontoon drinks welcome to add to the fun.

To learn more, just chat to Linda.

Sailability

Supporting Sailability is one of the most rewarding day's sailing that you could have and we're looking for skippers with their boats to help run the Sailability Days this year

Why support?

Giving those with impaired health or a disability the chance to experience sailing on a bigger boat, whilst everyone gets to meet fantastic people will always be a day to remember.

Lead a winter walk

Do you have a favourite walk? One that lasts an hour or two with a lovely warm meeting point for refreshment at the end?

During the winter months, we need volunteers to help lead a weekend winter walk. Not too much is involved - pick a meeting point, lead the way and if needed book a table for the group. If you have an idea for a walk you might lead, then just email Linda.

Poole Harbour Watch

Now, more than ever, our members are challenged by the sight of broken washboards, stolen goods and the stress of getting a boat secure again. Poole Harbour Watch is a voluntary patrol shared amongst boat owners and the yacht clubs in Poole.

Join the crew

Crews of 3 patrol the Poole Harbour moorings across the season. Whilst the mission has a serious side, its also a collegial spirit aboard the Pearl for an evening. The Parkstone patrols are organised by Paul Cutts.

Poole Harbour Watch started in 1996 and works in partnership with Poole Harbour Commissioners and the local police. For more information go to https://pooleharbourwatch.org.uk/

Support a Social Event

Social events from the big fleet dinners through First Friday and to the Coffee Mornings are enjoyed by many, but benefit from helping hands to make them run smoothly. Could you spare time to join Maggie's team of event supporters?

Join the Committee

The full and varied calendar of events, along with representation of the Cruising Fleet interests within the club, only happen with a strong and vibrant committee, led by our Fleet Captain.

Wide and varied roles

Whatever your skills, there are probably roles in the committee that would be a good fit. And with roles typically rotating every three years, we're always looking to the future. Could it be you?

Be a deputy

Don't want to take the full lead but still want to support? Why not help deputise for one of the committee on a topic you're passionate about.
